Why should the news media cover him at all? He is incapable of telling the truth (over 3000 lies and counting). His press secretary is no better and refers most questions to others for answers. He has a penchant for insulting anyone who might possibly disagree with him.
Bolton is more than willing to have others do the actual fighting in any given military action. He is more than willing to sacrifice the young men and women, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers of our nation to be killed, wounded, or maimed for life. For all of Bolton’s bravado, when given the opportunity to serve his country, he dodged it.
We can only speculate why Trump won’t authorize a counter-attack on Russia for its inference in the 2016 election and the current threats to the 2018 mid-terms. We will have to wait for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation to conclude to thoroughly discern what President Trump’s motivation for inaction is. The question then becomes can we afford to wait another three, six, or more months to find out?
What makes the case of treason difficult under the definition stated in the Constitution of the United States in Article III is the phrase “levying War against them”, meaning the states of the United States. The framers of the Constitution 240 years ago would not have been able to envision the digital world we live in of computers, social media, trolls and bots, cyber-attacks, and the ability to spread misinformation with lighting speed to millions of viewers on the internet.
Given the almost universal consensus of credible sources that the Russians at the direction of Putin cyber-attacked the United States, it is incredible that the president of the United States has not formally acknowledged the attacks and at the very least taken some form of punitive action against Russia.
It comes as no surprise then that the president was caught off guard Monday when asked about the four Special Forces soldiers who were killed in Niger. It had been twelve days without any acknowledgment by the president of their deaths. It is doubtful that Trump even knew where Niger was or why we had armed forces there in the first place.
